Goldy is a performance alter-ego – a way of performing without being seen.  A way to shift between landscape, creature and other without appearing in human form.  Goldy is a cocoon, a safe space to explore metamorphosis and change, whilst remaining hidden and protected.

During May-July 2026, in collaboration with dance artist Niamh O’Loughlin and digital artist and filmmaker Lucas Chih-Peng Kao, Julia developed Goldy through a series of residencies and sharings at Outerspaces Studios in Dundee, at Dance Base in Edinburgh and at home in the village of Inver in Easter Ross.  Through these residencies, the team have experimented with movement, sound and video projection to develop a contemporary performance work for children, young people and adults. Goldy appeared at the CYMERA Book Festival in Edinburgh in June, will be performed at the St Duthac Book and Art Festival on 11th-12th September and be part of the RSA200 Sculpture exhibition at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery in October 2026.
